Devils Tower
Did you know that Devils Tower was once hidden?
Long ago, erosion gave way to the tower we see today, which rises 1267 feet above the Belle Fourche River.
In 1906, President Theodore Roosevelt proclaimed Devils Tower as the first national monument. The park surrounding it (also known as Bears Lodge) spans 1347 acres and is covered with pine forests, woodlands, and grasslands. The tower is also a sacred site for many American Indians, who gather at this site during the month of June to perform sacred religious ceremonies.
In the months of July through May it is a popular site for rock climbers. Hundreds of parallel cracks and large hexagonal columns make Devils Tower one of the the finest traditional climbing areas in North America.

Vore Buffalo Jump
Did you know that Wyoming’s Black Hills are home to one of the world’s premier archeological sites?
For over three hundred years, Plains Indian tribes ran stampedes of bison over the edge of a deep natural sink hole, now called the "Vore Buffalo Jump". It was one of the most effective means available to hunt buffalo, which was a primary source of food and material.
